“IBEEV – 3” - the Kazachstanian Ice Breaking Emergency Evacuation Vessel

The Ice Breaking Emergency Evacuation Vessel (IBEEV) is the ship used to evacuate workers from oil rigs in the event of an accident. The Kashagan oil field, which employs this and five other vessels of the same type, is located in the northern waters of the Caspian Sea in the territorial waters of Kazakhstan. “Agip KCO”, which manages the consortium to operate the site, realized the threat to workers on the drilling rigs, initially ordered 4 and then two more “IBEEV” evacuation vessels at the yard. Their main task is to remove workers from artificial islands in the event of a fire or increased air pollution with sulfur-hydrogen compounds. The ships were built by “J. Pilsudski's ship repair factory” in Gdańsk.
