“Mary Arctica” is the newest and largest vessel from the owner “Royal Arctic Line A/S”, offering container freight services between Greenland and the rest of the world. The company, which is owned by the government of Greenland, has been operating as a separate economic entity since 1993. The owner has five container ships and several charter vessels, that transport Greenland's exports of shrimp and other products to Aalborg in Denmark, where “Royal Arctic Line” has a transshipment base. On the way back to Greenland, the ships carry a wide range of goods - building materials, medicines, clothes, etc. “Mary Arctica” was built at “Remontowa” shipyard in Gdańsk. Launched on September 3, 2004, the ship "Royal Institution of Naval Architects" was recognized as the ship of the year. This was achieved thanks to the atypical design of the container ship, which allows the ship to sail in very difficult conditions, prevailing around Greenland. The construction of the ship's hull allows breaking ice up to 1 m thick, the ship is adapted for loading and unloading without port equipment, which makes it able to serve all the ports of western Greenland. The ship can transport 220 refrigerated and dangerous cargo containers.

A small, medium-complexity, well-designed and maximally detailed ship model for this scale, which a modeler of any experience will do well, but for beginners and less experienced modelers, this should not be the first more complex model. And they are advised to work under the supervision of a more experienced colleague.
