“Oktiabrskaya Revoliucija” – the Russian/USSR battleship

The speed had to reach at least 22 knots. In 1908, a tender was announced for the design and construction of 4 ships, in which 6 Russian and 21 foreign companies participated. The German company “Blohm und Voss” won, but it was contrary to the rules, followed by Russia at the time: all warships had to be built in Russia. Thus, shipbuilding was entrusted to the “Baltijskij” shipyard in St. Petersburg. Thus, in 1911, the construction of the battleship “Gangut” began, which was renamed the “Oktiabrskaya Revoliucija” in 1925. Rebuilt and modernized several times, this ship even participated in World War II. After the war until 1955, he served as a training ship.
