Nine Type 1937 torpedo ships were built in 1939-1942 by the German Kriegsmarine. It was the result of the further development of twelve Type 1935 torpedo ships and together with them these ships formed the basis of the escort forces of the German Navy during World War II. Both types were characterized by excellent maneuverability, high speed, but also unreliable engines and weak artillery armament. T - 13 was the first torpedo ship of the 1937 type. Its keel was laid on September 26, 1938 at the Elbing shipyard, it was commissioned on May 31, 1941. At first the torpedo ship served in the Baltic Sea, at the turn of 1941-1942 it was transferred to France, from where it was supposed to escort the battleships "Sharnhorst", "Gnaisenau" and the cruiser “Prinz Eugen”, returning to Germany (Operation “Cerberus”). It served in the Atlantic Ocean until March 1943, then it was sent to the shipyard in Hamburg and, after modernization, it was transferred to the Baltic Sea in mid-1944, where on April 10, 1945 it was sunk by the British “Halifax” bombers.
A small, but complex, well-detailed ship model in spotted camouflage paint, suitable for intermediate to advanced modelers. Excellent graphic instructions, there is a small reserve of colors. From the publication You can make a model of the ship after the modernization, that took place in the spring of 1942.
