ORP “Garland” (H37) is a British G-type destroyer, built between the wars. From 1940 to 1946 he served in the Polish Navy as part of the British Royal Navy. After the war, he served in the Dutch Navy until 1964 and was called “Marnix”. Built on behalf of the Royal Navy from 1934 to 1935, it began service in 1936 as HMS “Garland”. At the outbreak of the war, it was lent to the Polish Navy, whose flag was hoisted on 3 May 1940 in Malta, retaining its previous name. After completing, his crew training, “Garland” has had limited involvement in hostilities in the Mediterranean and, since September 1940, sailed for Britain in the Battle for the Atlantic. In May 1942, 25 crew members were killed in a Luftwaffe airstrike, while sailing as part of the “PQ-16” convoy to USSR ports. At the end of 1943, the ship was converted into an escort minesweeper, serving in the Mediterranean from April of the following year. On September 19, 1944, along with other British destroyers, he contributed to the sinking of the German submarine “U-407”. On September 24, 1946, the ship was returned to the British, who sold it to the Dutch a year later, where he served as a training ship in the Navy, and later as a frigate. Deleted from the list in 1964, cut after 4 years.
A sophisticated, well-detailed and well-designed model for intermediate and experienced modelers. The model recreates the appearance of the ship in 1944, when it fought in the Mediterranean Sea.
