HMS "Hesperus" (H57) - British interwar and World War II destroyer. The keel was laid in 1938, launched in 1939. August, began service in the Royal Navy in 1940. The length of the ship is 98.5 meters, the width is 10.1 meters. Displacement was approximately 1900 tons, maximum speed - approximately 36 knots. Armament consisted of three single 120 mm guns, eight 533 mm torpedo tubes and depth charge launchers. HMS “Hesperus” was one of the “H” class destroyers. Generally, this type of ship was comparable to the "F" class ships, but had a significantly improved power plant and other minor structural changes. Destroyers of this class were equipped with the “ASDIC” system. During the war ships of this class were repeatedly modernized. One of the destroyers of this type was HMS “Hesperus”, which was originally commissioned by Brazil, but was bought by the Royal Navy almost immediately after being launched, at the start of the Second World War. The ship, already under the British flag, received a baptism of fire during the Norwegian campaign (1940), was damaged and sent for repairs. Once back in line, HMS “Hesperus” is placed on convoy duty. In 1941 the destroyer was sent to Gibraltar, but in the same year it returned to Atlantic and was again assigned to escort service. In 1943 the ship was substantially reconstructed and became an escort destroyer. Anti-submarine and anti-aircraft weapons were strengthened. After modernization and renovation, HMS "Hesperus" returned to the Atlantic Ocean and from 1943 to 1945 sank two German submarines. The destroyer was removed from the list of combat ships almost immediately after the end of the Second World War.

A medium sized, complex, well detailed ship model in a mottled camouflage, suitable for intermediate to advanced modelers. Excellent graphic instructions, there is a small reserve of colors.
