USS “England” was built in 1943. It got its name not from the state (as it might seem), but from Sergeant John C. England, who died on the deck of the USS “Oklahoma” at Pearl Harbor. This ship is famous for sinking 6 Japanese submarines in 13 days (between 19 and 31 May 1944): “I – 16”, “RO – 106”, “RO – 104”, “RO – 116”, “RO – 108” and “RO – 105”. May 9, 1945 ship was attacked by airplanes - "kamikazes". One of them was shot by the ship's crew, but the other hit the starboard side of the ship at the control bridge. 37 crew members were killed, 25 were injured. The destroyer was towed to the US, but was deemed beyond repair and sold for scrap.
A complex, beautiful and detailed ship model intended for intermediate and advanced modellers only, recreating the ship as it was in the spring of 1944.
