The “Abercrombie” keel was laid on April 26, 1941, at the “Higu Walker Nawal Yard” shipyard at Volker near Tyne, near Newcastle. Construction underwent major structural overhauls and supply disruptions, resulting in significant delays. The monitor was finally handed over to the fleet with a delay of almost a year on April 22, 1943, but all those delays went well - it was equipped with the latest electronics of that time. He first took part in the combat operation on July 10, 1943, when he supported an American landing in Sicily. On September 9, he supported a fire landing near Salerno, but drifted here on a mine that did no great damage, but the ship was returned to Bizerte for repair. The ship ended World War II in repairs. Passed for cutting in 1954.
Sophisticated, well-designed, beautiful and atypical ship model, intended only for average and experienced ship model lovers.
